| | an external database and to configure E-Forms Manager to use the new database. For existing installations upgraded to versions 7.3 or above, you may run this tool in order to perform a migration of the existing E- Forms Manager data repository to an external database as well.
Other recently released features in E-Forms Manager include:
Catalog Web Services API
The 7.4 release of E-Forms Manager added the E-Forms Manager Web Services API feature. The Web Services API is a set of SOAP-based web services that facilitates application-level integration with E-Forms Manager.
The Catalog Services provided by the E-Forms Manager Web Services API is categorized and described as services that allow applications to query the E-Forms Manager Form Catalog in order to obtain information about forms and their automation configuration within the catalog.
SQL Server / Oracle Data Repository Support
Starting with the 7.3 release, the data repository for the E-Forms Manager system, which holds all form catalog information, submitted and signed form content, and most application configurations, can be optionally kept in a SQL Server or Oracle database system. Prior to this version, the E-Forms Manager data repository was always stored and managed using a database engine that is included in the E-Forms Manager installation. While the use of the embedded database engine is still an option, the ability to use an external SQL Server or Oracle database can provide the following benefits:
 | | Simpler management, since the E-Forms Manager repository becomes part of an organization’s | | | existing managed infrastructure
| | | Ability to perform backup and recovery tasks in a manner consistent with your organization’s existing | | | procedures and infrastructure
| | | Ability to store E-Forms Manager data on server separate from that on which the E-Forms Manager | | | application is running
|
Separation of Administration Console from E-Form Processing Engine
Also in the 7.3 release, the main E-Forms Manager web application (previously referred to with the efm web context) has been divided into two distinct application components that allow simpler network-based separation of E-Forms Manager’s administrative interface from its e-form processing component. The administrative and processing engine components are now referenced with web context roots of efm-admin and efm respectively. The server can optionally be configured to make these applications listen on separate server ports.
JDBC Connectivity Support for Autofill and Autowrite
Starting with the 7.3 release, E-Forms Manager allows the use of JDBC drivers and connectivity as another option for external data source access.
